Leaving For Good

Not from DA, at least for right now!
I have spent the past 2 years here in Guyana and unfortunately it is time to head on home. I have had a great time and also there have been plenty of hard times adjusting to the different culture.
What this means though for the very few DA people that have taken notice of my photos is that I will not be adding any new photos for a while. I'm giving away my current computer and so I will not have a computer while I'm still shopping around for a good laptop.
I figure it has been time to get a new one as I've just picked up the latest Adobe Creative Suite 5 MC and my current computer has only 39 GB total to work with!
So, as I transition back to the States and get settled in expect not too much in terms of photos for a while but I will get back into the swing of things.
I've got some plans in in the works dealing with partnering with an established wedding and portrait photographer shooting as her second camera so that should be interesting.
Until Then...

To Submit or Not to Submit?

That is the question. There is a photo contest that I'm seriously considering entering. It is Macallan 'Masters of Photography' contest. Though I'm not saying by any means that I'm a 'Master' of photography, I have looked at other people that have entered into the competition and have found some wanting.
The theme is something like Journeys and of course since being here in Guyana is in of itself a journey worth a thousand words I feel that I have a distinct story to tell.
Of course the reason I'm writing this is to get the outsider opinion of my pictures. Does it scream worthy of prizes to you? Maybe you should look at some of the other photos and compare?

What I'm Doing

So I'll use this journal entry to let visitors of my deviant page know what I'm doing, where I'm at, etc.
I'm currently serving in in the US Peace Corps, volunteering for two years in a small village in Guyana South America. This village is inhabited by mostly Amerindian people who live a semi traditional lifestyle. I hope that my pictures can capture the raw beauty of the Savannah area that I live and also highlight what it means to live and play in this area of the world.
Please enjoy my attempt at sharing my experiences while I'm here!
